A thought for you Friday

a businessman was at the pier of the small Tuvaluan island when a boat with a fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were fish. The businessman complimented the Tuvaluan on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied only a little while.

The businessman then asked why he didn't stay out longer and catch more fish? The Tuvaluan said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The businessman then asked, but what do you do with the rest of you time? The Tuvaluan fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a nap with my wife, Puna, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitars with my friends; I have a full and busy life."

The businessman scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and I could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats; eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. You could sell directly to the processor and eventually open your own cannery. You would need to leave this small fishing island-nation and move to Australia, then LA and eventually New York City where you would run your expanding enterprise."

The Tuvaluan fisherman asked, "But how long will this all take? To which the businessman replied, "15 to 20 years." "But what then, sir? The businessman laughed and said, "Thats the best part! When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and make millions, flying around on your own corporate jet!" "Millions, sir? Then what?" The businessman said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing island where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a nap with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your friends."

The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "Isn't that what I'm doing right now?"

world travelers

Ryley and I are planning a trip. Somewhere wonderful. Somewhere warm. Somewhere far away. We're definitely thinking out of the country. We will probably be backpacking/camping/sleeping in hostels since we don't have tons of cash flow. Here are my top destinations.

1. New Zealand & Australia

2. Europe [Spain, France, Austria, Holland]

3. Africa

4. Brazil

5. Cruise anywhere tropical

I'm really needing some advice from people who actually travel. I'm not saying I want you to sit down and plan my vacation and will go where you tell me to go, but I want to know where your favorite places are. [that aren't ridiculously expensive and wallet ripping] If there was a certain cafe that you dream about at night or a hike that looked like a magical land please let me know. I want to make this trip perfect. Please don't be shy and comment.

Grateful Lady

Ok people besides my new his/hers post I've decided to take on I'm going to do another kind of post religiously [hopefully]. I am going to start doing a gratitude post a few times a week. Lately I've been a little sad and probably haven't had the best of attitude. Sometimes it's ok to be sad, but sometimes you need to cry your tears and then smile. I need to smile. I need help smiling sometimes. This is why I am going to start posting about what I am happy about in hopes that it will help me focus on the happy instead of the sad. Most of the time I hope to have pretty pictures attached because everyone knows people look at blogs to see pretty pictures and not to read a novel. Today no such luck. Sorry.

Here are a few happy highlights from the beginning of the week

1. Coming home from a 14 hour day of work with R starting my shower and while I'm soaking away cleaning our room, making our bed, and lighting yummy candles everywhere to "get me in a relaxing mood." It makes working so hard so much easier.

2. Having the entire day on Tuesday OFF work. That hasn't happened in a long time. It's crazy how much energy you have when you have happy things to do with no stress.

3. It's actually SUNNY outside today and about 40 degrees! That alone is cause for celebration.

What are some things you're grateful for? I dare you to add a gratitude post to your weekly blog list and post your link in my lovely thoughts so I can see and smile more.

ohhh ohhh oh  and I am grateful for happy art that is creative., simple, and brilliant such as this baby found here. What an awesome idea for a Save the Date.

His/Hers [art]

Today is the start of a new beginning of my blogging experience [let's see if it lasts]
His&Hers

This will give you all a little update on our personal dreams, aspirations, daily activities, and oddness.
Today [my day off... Glorious!] I was cleaning... and relaxing, but I was surrounded by our art. R just finished up yet another semester and is becoming more and more talented. It's a shame for it to go unseen. Thus the topic of today.

His

This is one of R's beautiful sisters, Branae.  R shot this picture with an old school camera to which I don't know the name but is massive and you have to put a black blanket over the top of you and the camera just like old times.

This was the final project for R's graphic design class. He had to make a deck of cards + a box to fit them in. R chose to make his cards about 50 funny Tees.

On one side of the cards R put the picture of the shirt and on the back wrote funny tips on when to and when not to wear the shirts. Funny and talented.

hers

Some of my latest creations I haven't yet shared.
One structured

And one loose.
Both make me happy

DIY String Chandeliers

I found these beautiful string chandeliers today and can't wait to make my own. If it ever gets warm enough I think I'll have to make these for an outdoor dinner party. Too see how to make them go here.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Monday.

Happy Easters

Happy Easter Sunday everyone. Today was such a beautiful day filled with breakfast in bed {thanks to my perfect husband R} finding hidden Easter baskets {which included 2 kites, new razors, yummy gum and my favoritest candies}, a very spiritual church meeting that left me feeling uplifted and happy, a wonderful dinner prepared by an even more wonderful mom-in-law, a bike ride/long board ride, and now a relaxing evening with my man.

On a completely different note, I was sifting through some of our pictures and came across this picture of R and me at our friend, Daniel's, birthday. Wow I can't believe my hair was that short! I'm still trying to grow it out 1.5 years later. Seeing this photo slightly makes me want to cut it again, but then I think of growing it out and think never again. Yea for being able to put my hair in ponytails again.

Party in your Easter eggs

Today I taught a bunch of happy little 8 year olds and guess what the biggest thing I learned. ONLY 4 MORE DAYS TIL EASTER! Can you believe it? Seriously where did April go? It seems like I always have big beautiful plans for holidays, but then somehow the show up and my jaw has dropped to the floor in a oh-my-goodness-I-haven't-done-one-festive-thing-and-now-it's-over-and-I-can't-celibrate-it-with-R-for-ANOTHER-YEAR!!! Augh I hate that feeling. For all you people like me I'm here to let you know you still have time. You can still make a little something for someone and brighten their day. You still have 4 days!

Here are a few of my favorite easter eggs that will most definitely put a smile on your face.

1. Gold Confetti Eggs throws a delightful little twist from the usual candy center found here

2. Decoupage Surprise Eggs look a lot more beautiful and crafted than dyed eggs found here

3. Message in an Egg tutorial found here is my most favorite of all. Everyone would love to unwrap a beautiful box to find an egg with a hidden message.

Post-it-note Feelings

My heart on a post-it-note

Today was not a happy day. My heart was singing the blues for many reasons. One reason is that our mini vacation out of Rexburg is over. We are back to the real world of school and work and work and work. No more being with R 86,400 seconds, 1440 minutes, or 24 hours of the day. Not for another 4 long months.
Besides the crash to reality I've been hit with a few blows that are making me want to think of everything but reality. Life never seems to work the way you imagine. The thing to remember is that when things don't go your way they usually turn out better than imagined. The hard part is accepting it. I'm in the process of accepting right now. Please give me a few days.

Hogal Zoo

Since R and I have been in Utah we stopped by Hogal Zoo. So Wonderful. Animals are amazing. What it really made us want to do is go on an African safari. Is that too big of a trip to ask for....? Never. It was such a warm magical day walking around all these exotic animals with snow on the hills and mountains. ha poor guys

This monkey made me so happy being shy for R's camera

Good-bye. Farewell, alvetersane

J Crew

I know we haven't had summer yet, but take a look at J. Crew's fall collection. Beautiful. I'm pretty sure I will be dreaming of that trench tonight.

Bijou Market

It's been a while. This is because R and I have been in Utah all week and are actually still here. Too much time for computers and sitting. I did however just download our pictures to the Bijou Market that R and I went to last weekend. 1 word. Amazing. I am always amazed at how creative and talented people are. I am definitely inspired.

4.07.2011

Today I have a little musical enjoyment that has to go with R and me.
I've always always always loved Green Eyes by Coldplay and I heart it even more because I'm married to a green eyed man. And it just so happens I love the song Blue Eyes by Timmy Curran which just works out great since I have blue eyes. So I thought I must combine and do a day of us.
Those are always the best days

I wish I could take credit for these beauties, but I can't. I've been blog hopping again and I can say I'm happy I have since I stumbled on miss hearted girl who has been portraying my hearts every want and desire.

etsy shop

I am excited to say that I an FINALLY starting an etsy shop. I haven't quite finished it up but I thought I would give you a sneak peak of what is coming. Please get excited because I am.

crazy week

Finals week this week. But you say "why Chelse, you're not in school silly." Ahh yes I am not. But R is. And that means that during finals I am too. R has a million projects due in 3 days time. only 96 hours until all is due. It's going to be one crazy sleepless week. But do not worry. We are going to indulge ourselves for a week afterwards and it's going to start with the Bijou Market. I am so excited to attend and one day can only hope that I'm the one selling instead of buying.
