re-post poster

Yes I know I've posted this before..... Almost a year ago to be exact. The crazy thing is, no matter how many times I watch it I am still just as amazed as the first time. This video inspires me to create. To get off my couch potato scared butt and get work done! If you haven't seen this video yet you must watch! If you have already seen it you still must watch. I promise, it's 3 minutes you won't regret.

PS I hope you all had a wonderful holiday today! Mondays are so much better when you aren't working!

Instead of making my own art...
I come up with ideas for art projects for my students.
Not as relaxing or inspiring but still fun.
Hows this for step one of an self portrait poster?

Oh Horse Feathers

What do you think of my new
Business Cards?
R and I designed.
I have ideas.
He makes them work on the computer.
I've decided we should start a business together.
We both have different strengths + weaknesses.
Our energy + creativeness feeds off each other.
Plus I love being by his side.
Keep your eyes open for one this year...

I finished a custom book for someone on my etsy shop.
It was definitely a challenge getting the text + font + everything to look lovely, but I think I finally figured it out. It was fun and challenging to make. I hope my customer is a happy camper.
I mailed out/sold a painting the other day and I just keep hoping someone loves my art like I do. I hope they have a happy home.

My etsy shop is finally here!

I hope you love it

Take a look at R's latest and greatest graphic design project.
He had to design a mailer, which means something you get in the mail.
The product, the box, the everything has to look great and have the same look/theme.
R had to design something for an ice cream party.
He made + designed a bag for home made ice cream mix.
He also made a flyer with all the info + directions to the ice cream party.
Then he stuck all the goods into an ice cream container, set it on some ice and
sealed it in a cooler that was wrapped in the beautiful logo.
Next he covered the mailing box with a transfer of his logo and sealed it up.
He sent it to his professor who is going to unwrap this beautiful surprise
to the illusion of a cold ice cream container only to find a beautiful invite to
his very own ice cream party and his own ice cream mix.
Wouldn't you just LOVE pulling this out of your mailbox?
I know I would.
So folks for all of your graphic needs you know who to contact!

mostly for Rachel

I found another delicious artist while on the computer last night.
These beauties are designed by Inslee, an artist living in D.C.
These pictures are of the art she sells in her shop. [calendars, note cards, prints, ect]
She also has some very different figures in in gallery.
I said this was mainly for Rachel Hope because she is living in NY and could go to her booth,
but you all should check her out.

weekend

This weekend R and I went on a great family outing in the morning and had ourselves a great date at night. Bright and early Saturday R and I headed over to the parents, hopped in their car, and headed to Shelly to an antique store. [one of the Shaum's favorite past-times]

What happened with the fam
At the antique store I bought a little pink glass cup made during the Depression. Yea
We found an awesome green wall and had to stop for some photos.
We then drove back to Idaho Falls & stopped at the farmers market
bought yummy fudge.
[I could really go for some more right now]
At the market we saw a timber wolf [pet] playing with a mini pincher that weighed 3 lbs. The little dog stood up on its hind legs and his entire body was as tall as the wolfs head when he was laying down!
Ate at Snake Bite, an amazing loco cafe. Easton ate his hamburger in record time.
Rode home watching Fantacy Factory on Garet's ipod

what happened on our date night
wanted to go hiking. Too cold. Went to Fast5 instead.
I didn't have high hopes, but we both loved the movie. Fake but entertaining.
Came home and made art
We each had our own canvas that connect together by a beautiful stallion
I first painted mine red and blue. It looked like the English flag. ahhh
Had to start over. Sad
The ending outcome made us happy. Now we have something to hang on our walls.

Later on we had a bonfire with some friends.
April 30th and I still had thermals, flannel. thick hoodie, hat, + gloves.
talked, laughed, burned stuff, ate smores
Great night

The next day after church R & I changed and R said we were going for a drive.
We drove and drove and drove and finally got to Mesa Falls.
Too much snow. The road to the falls was closed.
Sad times.

We then drove back a few miles and had a picnic by the river. Instead of sitting on the blanket I had it wrapped around me. Still cold.
We were sitting by this gnarly/narley tree. You all know how I love trees.
Thus we took a picture.
R has a remote for the camera, but since the tree was so big he had to walk up half way to the camera to get the camera timer to start. He would then sprint back to me for the photo. He didn't make it. I have some pretty funny photos of R running, turning, and lunging towards me. I didn't take the time to make progression photos but just try to imagine how awesome they all are.

We had 2 amazing days of relaxation and good times
Hope you all had great weekends as well

His/Hers [art]

Today is the start of a new beginning of my blogging experience [let's see if it lasts]
His&Hers

This will give you all a little update on our personal dreams, aspirations, daily activities, and oddness.
Today [my day off... Glorious!] I was cleaning... and relaxing, but I was surrounded by our art. R just finished up yet another semester and is becoming more and more talented. It's a shame for it to go unseen. Thus the topic of today.

His

This is one of R's beautiful sisters, Branae.  R shot this picture with an old school camera to which I don't know the name but is massive and you have to put a black blanket over the top of you and the camera just like old times.

This was the final project for R's graphic design class. He had to make a deck of cards + a box to fit them in. R chose to make his cards about 50 funny Tees.

On one side of the cards R put the picture of the shirt and on the back wrote funny tips on when to and when not to wear the shirts. Funny and talented.

hers

Some of my latest creations I haven't yet shared.
One structured

And one loose.
Both make me happy

Bijou Market

It's been a while. This is because R and I have been in Utah all week and are actually still here. Too much time for computers and sitting. I did however just download our pictures to the Bijou Market that R and I went to last weekend. 1 word. Amazing. I am always amazed at how creative and talented people are. I am definitely inspired.

Holga love

This is a take 2 with my holga. I'm still trying to figure it all out. The back of my camera popped off while shooting which exposed most of my film, but hey I still got a few.
They weren't what I was expecting, but it's fun to see what shows up on the negatives.

tutorial... finally

I've been meaning to put this tutorial on my blog for about ever. Ever is finally here people.
If you remember some of my earlier posts I talked about printing on fabric in a way that looks very original. No two things will every turn out the same.

You may have looked at the book I made here

or the ugly sweater party invitations I made here
I made both these beauties with an easy transfer technique you all can learn now

First things first. You need to either use photoshop to create on image, or find one online. {here's a tricky side-note. If you are transferring words like I did with my invitation you need to open your text in photoshop go to image - image rotation - flip canvas horizontally. This will flip your words so when you're finished you can actually read what it says. This is also the same if you need to flip your picture}

Once you have your picture the way you want it go ahead and print. You need to print on a Laser printer. Ink Jet printers WILL NOT work. This is crucial people.

Here is my image of my bike print paper
I got a piece of material and flipped the bike print over on top of the fabric.

Next get your Acetone ready. {if you're transferring something large you can pick up this big jug at your hardware store for super cheap. You'll have to use q-tips to rub on the Acetone on your paper. An easier, but more expensive way I recommend is going to a craft store such as Porter's or Michaels and buying an Acetone marker that looks like this beauty. You have more control this way, but the markers run out much faster.}

Now take your Acetone and start tracing over your print. Make sure to push hard and go over each part a few times. You can always flip you paper and peek to make sure it's as dark as you want, but make sure to keep the same place. The acetone works fast so as soon as you cover an area you only have seconds to re-cover the area and make sure it's on as dark as you want.

*make sure you don't get Acetone all over your skin. It can be dangerous. If you aren't using the marker I suggest wearing gloves and keep it away from you kids.*

Once you're done pull off the paper and you've got yourself a transferred picture.

This will give you a very unique look, but it's not exact. Good luck. Have fun. If you try this on something let me know how it turned out.
