R and I took a little weekend getaway to Bear Lake.
I love driving through the canyon and coming around the corner
to see the lake in full view. It calms my crazy head.
We drove up for a goodbye party for one of my close high school friends.
They're moving away to dental school far far away.
Kaydi threw a big Cinco De Mayo party for them.
I love the fact that even though it's been years
and we have completely changed [hopefully]
that we are all still friends. Even if we don't chat on the phone every week
or get together once a month, we are still happy and pick up where we left off.
We understand each other. We know each other. I mean we grew up toilet papering houses and giggling at all night slumber parties.
We know each others families and they know my story.
They know my dad. They went through my hardest years and stood by my side.
Even if we don't talk for another 20 years it won't be awkward.
They're my friends. And good friends never leave.
ps. We are going to be spending a lot of time in Bear Lake this summer.
Can't wait!

Rocken the Fair

Welcome to the Eastern Idaho State Fair

Our friend Daniel helped us do the math. For the joy of a carni ride it'll cost you about $1.30 a minute.

Luckily we had our favs Trent + Mckenzie to haggle with the carnies to play cheap games.

Super cool/super hard game. I think we threw down $20 and no one won. Lame
I finally got my taste.
The fair's got it all.....
Deep fried food dipped in butter and fried again just to make sure it's greasy enough
Mullets that are so long I'm sure they haven't been cut in 10 years
Idaho's biggest horse. Sweet!
Rides + games + carnies
And don't forget the hypnotist shows.
It's definitely a must for fall.
I'm sad to see summer go, but this time I am getting the fall excitement.
It's now about football and layers and cool nights
And a feeling that I don't have to go go go and not waste a perfect summer day.
Now I seem to nap nap nap and teach teach teach

Sayonara Rexburg

one of our last days in the Burg

baby bump hump

don't worry. Stupid Carino's keeping me from partying with everyone. Lame

The past weeks I've been missing a little bit of my heart in Rexburg.
Wow I can't even believe I'm saying that!
I've been so anti Rexburg for a while. This isn't because I don't like Rexburg.
I was just ready for something new with a normal job.
Now I have that job and we have no friends.
R and I moved away from both our families.
We moved away from friends who have become our family.
Now we have each other.
I do love coming home to R each day. Watching NetFlix. Eating Moose Tracks ice cream and taking 3 hour naps. Who would love chilling with the best friend right.
But I just can't help miss all my others in Rexburg.
I didn't realize how lucky I was to have such great friends.
We always got together. No one ever fought or was lame.
Being in a college town makes it so much easier to meet people in your same walk of life.
Since we've moved I've met 3 girls around my age.
I hang out with one. At school. During lunch. Wow it's crazy.
Yes I actually really love Kimmie and am blessed to have met her.
(the one thing that keeps me sane at school)
But geezeis I miss everyone else!
I guess what I realized and what I need to not forget it.......
It doesn't matter where you live as long as your with the ones you love.

Blast from the past
One of my favorite persons found this old photo and shared it with me. ha ha What can I really say except there's no time like your first few years of college. Living life fully every day. Making unbreakable friendships, and of course posing sexily on a slip-n-slide in front of the entire apartment complex. I could really use a day like this again. Friends, please come back!

Date of Perfection
I have the recipe for the best date and no, it isn't dinner, a movie, and a cupcake. It's way more exciting than that.
It starts with snowboarding with just R + me. *oh so fun!*
Next we drive to beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming to meet some friends.
We eat. We walk. We look at art. We look at sexy man undies in the store window,ya know, the usual.
Then we end the night at a hockey game full of beer, blood, and intensity. Mix in Mckenzie giving the crowd a little half-time dance (she should have beat that 8 year old!) and you've got yourself a good time.
I love R for always having exciting ideas and dates and not just eating dinner and cupcakes every Friday night.

Goodbye for now. Best wishes for all your weekend dates

Nothing says Christmas like an ugly sweater
Remember when I posted my invitations to our Ugly Sweater Party? Well I have finally downloaded the pictures from the great event. It was so much fun. R and I are so lucky to have such great friends to party with in Rexburg.

Another shot of my amazing invitations. I did say I was going to do a tutorial on how I did it.... but it's the holidays and I just haven't had time. But I PROMISE that after the new year I'll get it done + also be a more exciting blogger again.
Promise

Here's me preparing some fabulous snacks for the event

Yummy yummy food + hot cocoa

Jeff + Sam
We're so happy they moved back to Rexburg and live 2 floors down

Levi + Laura rocking the turtle neck

Our favorite party member Mojo. Cutest dog ever.

They would be the "fancy Hampton's" being incredibly fancy with the matching sweaters + fancy expressions

The whole group
*All except Rachael + Dan who we still miss!*

Thank you everyone who came and shared the night with us.
Happy happy holidays.
Love R + C Shaum

Babies babies babies
Back to my high school roots. It's crazy! 5 of my high school girl friends are pregnant! Lacey and I threw a little baby shower for them in a cabin on Bear Lake. It was so much fun getting back together with all of them since it's pretty impossible to all be together anymore.

The cup cakes looked amazing thanks to Leslie and Lynn

All 4 cute tummies

I wonder where we will all be in another 7 years...

October is Gone
HHalloween was a success this year thanks to great friends, sweet costumes, delicious food, and a murder mystery.
Amy + Daniel
Scott Pilgrim VS the World
I'm in LOVE with Amy's pink hair. She could dye her real hair pink and could pull it off!

Shade under a DECADE
Turns out I really slacked with blogging for a while. But R and I had such a wonderful summer that I have a hard time passing up all the thousands of pictures we took. I've narrowed it down to a a few, but really it's only a glimpse into all the adventures we've had.
This post is about my wonderful trip to SF with my college favsRachel Hope and Becky Packard. It was seriously so much fun. It was my first girls trip since before I met R. We did a lot of sight seeing and ton ton TON of walking and even more laughing. Honestly it doesn't matter where I'm at with these girls I'm always going to have a great time. The first thing Rae and I did getting into the city waiting for Becky was walk down to a local cafe, grab a snickers and DP for breakfast and gab for an hour about random things. Loved it. These girls will always be in my heart and mind. I just hope this girls week continues every year.
